The House approved a suspension bill, S. 3744, the Uyghur Human Rights Policy Act, which would sanction China over its treatment of minorities. Lawmakers then voted 232-182 in favor of ending debate on the rule for the re-authorization of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), and by a 228-189 margin they voted in favor of the debate rule for FISA re-authorization.

For the first time in the chamber’s 231-year history, members were allowed to vote by proxy, due to the coronavirus pandemic. close
