Senatir Tom Cotton (R-AR) testified before a British defense subcommittee on China, 5G technology, and global security. He spoke out about the U.K.'s proposals to allow Chinese company, Huawei, to supply up to 35% of 5G equipment. This move came under fire from the Trump administration and other congressional lawmakers, including Senator Cotton, who recently submitted an amendment to legislation on countries dealing with Huawei. He warned the committee of China’s global intentions, stressing their efforts to cause division in the West and told members he believed China was trying to drive a “high-tech wedge” between the U.S. and U.K. The committee also heard testimony from former House Intelligence Committee Chair Mike Rogers (R) and retired Brigadier General Robert Spalding, who previously served on the National Security Council under the Trump administration. close
