New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) held a news conference to discuss the coronavirus pandemic and ongoing protests following the death of George Floyd, a Black man who died while in custody of Minneapolis police. As New York City reopened in phases, Governor Cuomo urged protesters to get tested for COVID-19 as soon as possible. He said he along with public health experts were concerned with the mass gatherings over the last several days and the potential for spreading the virus to others. He also said that as New York City reopened, there would be more than 30,000 tests performed a day and more testing sites available to the public.
