Deputy Secretary of State Stephen Biegun testified at a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing on U.S.-China relations. Among the topics the deputy secretary addressed were China’s actions in the South China Sea, Belt and Road Initiative, growth as a global economic power, and role in the COVID-19 pandemic. He also talked about China’s dismantling of Hong Kong’s democratic autonomy and human rights abuses aimed at the Chinese Muslims, known as Uyghurs. close
