Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) spoke on the chamber floor before the Senate voted on a measure that would allow debate to begin on the Republican $1 trillion coronavirus pandemic economic aid plain. The proposal would extend unemployment benefits but reduce the extra amount from $600 per week to $200 per week. Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) responded by saying that amount is too low.
