Additional Democratic speakers included: gun violence survivor and former Representative Gabrielle Giffords (AZ), former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (CA), Senator Elizabeth Warren (MA), and former President Barack Obama. Topics that were addressed included: gun violence, global climate change, immigration, women’s rights, former Senator Biden’s role in the Violence Against Women Act, childcare, and the economic impact of President Trump’s handling of COVID-19 on small businesses. Due to social distancing guidelines put in place in response to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the convention was a virtual event, with pre-recorded as well as live video presentations, no audience, and none of the leading participants speaking from the host city of Milwaukee.
