House and Senate Democrats held a news conference outside the U.S. Postal Service headquarters to discuss mail-in voting and changes to postal operations made by Postmaster General Louis DeJoy. Those changes included eliminating overtime for mail carriers, reducing post office hours, and removing postal boxes. Among the speakers were House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (MD), Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton (DC), and Senators Chris Van Hollen (MD) and Mark Warner (VA). In addition, lawmakers were joined by retired Postal Service employee Annette Taylor. Shortly before the event, Mr. DeJoy issued a statement announcing he was halting some operational changes to mail delivery until after the November elections. close
