The Atlantic Council’s Scowcroft Center hosted a virtual forum on the future of the Department of Homeland Security. Joining the second part of the event were former DHS Secretaries Michael Chertoff (Bush Admin., 2005-09), Janet Napolitano (Obama Admin., 2009-13), and Jeh Johnson (Obama Admin., 2013-17). Several topics were discussed, including immigration, the politicization of DHS, public trust, and election security. They also addressed what the department might look like depending on who wins the presidency, suggesting that DHS will have a return to normalcy if former Vice President Joe Biden were to become president. close
