The House Oversight and Reform Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties hosted a remote hearing on white supremacists infiltrating police departments. Witnesses included law enforcement officers, legal experts, and a former Neo-Nazi. They discussed their experiences with racist police officers and expressed the dangers of white supremacy in law enforcement. Frank Meeink, a former Neo-Nazi, discussed how he and others were encouraged to join the police force “as a means to cause harm to people of color.” Members described ways to root out problematic police officers and change legal protections shielding police officers from being fired. close
