Senate Judiciary Committee Democrats held a news conference following the first day of the Supreme Court confirmation hearings for Judge Amy Coney Barrett. The Democrats talked about the potential fate of the Affordable Care Act if the judge were to be confirmed to the nation’s high court. The senators also pushed back on the claim by Republicans on the committee that Democrats were attacking the nominee’s religious faith. “Did you hear one of us raise that issue? We have taken an oath to a constitution which says no religious test. Enough said,” said Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL). close
