The American Enterprise Institute (AEI) held a virtual symposium about the American economy after COVID-19 and what the governing priorities should be for 2021 and beyond. Nicholas Eberstadt, the 2020 Irving Kristol Award recipient and the Political Economy Chair at AEI, delivered the keynote address, which explored his concerns about the economy and what he called its possible “Japanification” due to growing reliance on federal spending and the decline of the familial structure. close
