Democrats and Republicans held News Conferences to discuss President Bill Clinton’s Budget Plan. The House Democrats and President Bill Clinton News Conference aired first in the Capitol’s Statuary Hall. House Dems spoke about the President’s Budget Plan. Next was the Senate Republicans news conference that took place in the Senate Gallery. They announced their opposition to the president’s economic plan scheduled to be voted on by the House and Senate later in the week. The speakers criticized the bill, saying it contained more tax increases than spending cuts and would not result in significant deficit reduction. They also compared the president’s budget to the 1990 budget plan, which contained tax increases but failed to reduce the federal deficit. close
