The news conference followed a statement earlier in the day by U.S. Trade Representative Mickey Kantor that the U.S., Canada and Mexico had come to an agreement on supplementary agreements to the legislation concerning labor and environmental issues. Jim Jontz, Citizens Trade Campaign said the side agreements did not solve the main problem of the agreement, which he said would encourage U.S. industry to move to Mexico.
