President Bill Clinton approached a microphone for the purpose of briefing the press on the Middle East peace treaty signing scheduled for Monday at the White House. Following a short opening statement, he took questions concerning the possibility of U.S. recognition of the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO). He also stated that the Israeli government and the PLO can send any representative to the signing ceremony that they feel should attend, including Yassir Arafat. close
