President Clinton traveled to New Orleans, Louisiana to promote the North American Free Trade Agreement. The ceremony, originally scheduled for a New Orleans port, was moved into a shipping warehouse due to inclement weather. The president used shipping crates as visual illustrations for the need to adopt the agreement and move the U.S. into North American trading bloc. Following the president’s opening statement, he took questions and comments from local business owners who feel they will profit from NAFTA’s ratification. close
