The Institute for Democracy in Vietnam held this meeting to talk about U.S relations with Vietnam. Senator John McCain (R-Arizona) spoke in favor of improving relation with Vietnam. Senator McCain, as a Navy pilot, was shot down and held captive for five and a half years during the Vietnam War. Vietnamese members of pro-U.S./Vietnam relations groups, as well as other public officials, spoke positively for improved relations between the two nations. close
