President Bill Clinton and Prime Minister Carlo Ciampi approached the microphone for the purpose of briefing reporters on the two leaders' meeting at the White House. The president thanked Italy for their support in Somalia and throughout the Middle East peace process. He also stated that the U.S. will continue to support political reform in the Mediterranean and, specifically, in Italy. Following opening statements by both leaders, President Clinton took questions concerning financing health care reform. close
