Officials from the Departments of Defense and Health and Human Services (HHS) Department held a news conference on COVID-19 vaccine distribution efforts. HHS Secretary Alex Azar told reporters that the first shipment of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine includes 2.9 million doses. “By the end of December, we believe there will be enough vaccine distributed to get a first-dose vaccination for 20 million people,” the secretary said. He was joined by Dr. Moncef Slaoui and General Gustave Perna, both leaders in the federal government “Operation Warp Speed” team created to rapidly develop a safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine. close
