A bipartisan group of lawmakers led by Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Susan Collins (R-ME) announced two legislative proposals totaling $908 billion to provide coronavirus pandemic emergency relief. The first bill would provide relief to students, families, businesses, workers and health care providers. The second bill would address liability protections and funding for state and local governments. The lawmakers called on the House and Senate leadership to take up the proposals, insisting COVID-19 relief legislation be passed before Congress left for the holidays. close
