The Senate convened for a Saturday session as lawmakers continued to negotiate federal funding and a coronavirus pandemic economic relief package. Members confirmed the nomination of Thompson Michael Dietz to be a judge of the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, which hears monetary claims against the federal government. Members also advanced Beth Harwell’s nomination to be a member of the Board of Directors of the Tennessee Valley Authority. Two inspectors general nominations failed to get enough votes to invoke cloture: John Chase Johnson for the Federal Communications Commission, and Eric Soskin for the Transportation Department. close
