Republican Senators Cynthia Lummis (WY), Bill Hagerty (TN), and Roger Marshall (KS) talked about what brought them to Congress and their life experiences and influences. These three freshman senators, each of whom grew up on a farm or ranch, were among 10 new members sworn into the Senate on January 3, 2021, and have already been a part of history. Following their election and these interviews with C-SPAN, the Senate became equally divided with 50 in the Democratic caucus and 50 Republicans. Their first weeks in office included debating challenges to Electoral College votes, surviving an attack on the U.S. Capitol, witnessing the inauguration of a new president, and serving as jurors in the second impeachment trial of former President Trump. close
