Viewers commented on the attack on the U.S. Capitol by protesters who attended a rally with President Trump supporters disputing the outcome of the 2020 presidential election. The Capitol was subsequently locked down. The rally took place before and as members of Congress met to count Electoral College ballots for president and vice president in the 2020 election. The demonstrators reached the second-floor lobby just outside the Senate chamber, as law enforcement officers placed themselves in front of the chamber doors, and later entered the Senate chamber. This portion of C-SPAN coverage includes live scenes of the protestors walking across Statuary Hall; phone interviews with several reporters as well as Representatives Stacey Plaskett (D-Virgin Islands), Henry Cuellar (D-TX), Jamie Raskin (D-MD), and Don Bacon (R-NE); and tweets from reporters were read throughout. close
