At age 27, Benjamin Ferencz served as the chief U.S. prosecutor at the Nuremberg Trials for the case against 22 leaders of the Einsatzgruppen, which were mobile Nazi death squads responsible for the murder of more than a million Jews and others on World War II’s Eastern Front. In this conversation hosted by the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, he recounted his early life as an immigrant child in New York City, his time at Harvard Law School and his service in the U.S. Army, which late in the war included investigating Nazi war crimes. He also discussed his work as one of the top U.S. prosecutors at Nuremberg. The Holocaust Memorial Museum provided this video. close
