Paul Clement and Neal Katyal, who have both served as U.S. solicitor general, talked about the Supreme Court and their former position. Mr. Clement, who served during the George W. Bush administration, and Mr. Katyal, who served during the Obama administration, talked about the Office of the Solicitor General’s role in arguing cases before the Supreme Court. They also discussed a variety of other topics, including the impact of the Trump administration on the Solicitor General’s office, oral arguments during the coronavirus pandemic, possible Supreme Court retirements, and the chief justice’s role during President Trump’s second impeachment trial. close
