Policy experts testified at a Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee hearing on energy production and climate change trends. Committee members focused on how the U.S. and the rest of world produce energy and steps that could be taken to mitigate the impact of energy production on the environment. Much of the discussion concerned the environmental and economic costs transitioning to new energy sources versus not moving away from fossil fuels. At the beginning of the hearing, the committee voted to favorably report the nomination of former Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm’s nomination for secretary of energy.
