House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA), and Republican Conference Chair Liz Cheney (R-WY) spoke briefly with the press after their House Republican conference. When asked about removing Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene from committee assignments, Leader McCarthy said he had offered to move her to other committees, but that Democrats had rejected his offer. He also said that he denounced the statements the freshman representative made prior to being elected and that she had denounced them as well during the House Republican conference. It was also announced that during the meeting, Representative Cheney was re-elected as Republican Conference chair. close
