Author and journalist Greg Mitchell discussed three “newsreels” produced by MGM Studios in the 1934 successful campaign to defeat Democratic gubernatorial candidate Upton Sinclair. He discovered the newsreels in the early 1990s while researching his book, The Campaign of the Century: Upton Sinclair’s Race for Governor of California and the Birth of Media Politics. close
