As a child, Dimas Chavez and his family moved to Los Alamos after his father began working for the Zia Company, a subcontractor for the Manhattan Project. In an interview conducted by the Atomic Heritage Foundation, he recalled his experience living at the site and the challenges they faced as a Mexican American family. The “Voices of the Manhattan Project” oral history collection was created by the Atomic Heritage Foundation and is managed by the National Museum of Nuclear Science & History. close
