Impeachment manager Representative Jamie Raskin (D-MD) read Representative Jaime Herrera Beutler’s (R-WA) comments into the record, and announced that further witnesses would not be called. The managers then began to give their closing arguments before Senator Mike Lee (R-UT) objected to part of their presentation, which resulted in a lengthy quorum call. Afterward, the former president’s defense team summed up its case. The final 57-43 vote fell 10 short of the 67 needed to convict; thus, the former president was acquitted. Republican Senators Susan Collins (ME), Lisa Murkowski (AK), Mitt Romney (UT), Ben Sasse (NE), Bill Cassidy (LA), Pat Toomey (PA), and Richard Burr (NC); all 48 Democrats; and two independents voted in favor of conviction.
