President Biden made remarks about his plan to help support small businesses struggling to stay open during the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that approximately 400,000 small businesses had closed due to the pandemic, and he urged Congress to pass his $1.9 trillion dollar American Rescue Plan. The president announced changes to the Payment Protection Plan (PPP) loan application rules, saying that for the next two weeks, only businesses with fewer than 20 employees could claim pandemic-related relief loans. close
