Alex Tresniowski talked about his book, The Rope: A True Story of  Murder, Heroism, and the Dawn of the NAACP. He looked back at an Asbury Park, New Jersey, murder case against an African American man--arguing there was little evidence against him. He recounted the case in the context of widespread lynching and other crimes against African Americans in the early 20th century. The National Archives hosted this event and provided the video. close
