British Prime Minister Boris Johnson fielded questions on domestic and foreign policy issues from members in the House of Commons. Labour Party Leader Keir Starmer and other members pressed the prime minister on holding a public inquiry into the government’s COVID-19 pandemic response once restrictions were lifted in the U.K. The prime minister also defended his proposal to reduce troop numbers by 10,000 by 2025. Mr. Starmer accused the prime minister of failing to keep his campaign promises and called him “weak” on defense, and later demanded a vote on the issue in Parliament. Other questions posed to the prime minister included changes to the rules around medical marijuana and economic support for small businesses. close
