Horatio Alger, Jr. was a 19th century writer and novelist. He is best known for his “rags to riches” stories centered around young boys working their way out of poverty. Historian Jack Bales recounted his life story and explained how he has been misrepresented in history. Mr. Bales is the co-author of The Lost Life of Horatio Alger, Jr..
