Gary Gallagher has written or edited more than 30 books on Civil War history. His latest, The Enduring Civil War: Reflections on the Great American Crisis, collects more than 70 essays written for Civil War Times Magazine containing his thoughts on topics ranging from the direction of contemporary Civil War scholarship to the common notion of Gettysburg as a turning point in the conflict. He discussed these and other subjects featured in the book with Peter Carmichael and Ashley Whitehead Luskey of the Gettysburg College Civil War Institute, which provided this video. close
