The Medal of Honor is the highest military decoration awarded by the U.S. government. The first was presented by President Lincoln in 1863. Daughters of World War I Medal of Honor recipients John Lewis Barkley and William Shemin told stories about their father’s service and discussed the legacy of the Medal of Honor. They were joined by Catherine Ehlers Metcalf from the Congressional Medal of Honor Society, whose father was a World War II Medal of Honor recipient.
