Robert Certain was a U.S. Air Force B-52 navigator during the Vietnam War. While on a bombing mission over Hanoi, his plane was shot down, and he was captured by the North Vietnamese and held for 100 days. He described his time in captivity, including interrogations he endured and his living conditions. He also discussed his subsequent career as a chaplain and the therapy he received to help him deal with the trauma of his captivity. This interview is from the Veterans History Project, and was conducted by the Atlanta History Center’s Kenan Research Center. close
