Representatives from Apple and Google defended their companies against accusations of antitrust practices in their app stores during a Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Antitrust and Consumer Rights hearing. Committee members heard complaints from Spotify, Match, and other app store developers, who accused the tech companies of anti-competitive practices and charging unjustified developer fees. The app store developers said they were forced to comply with Apple’s and Google’s demands because of the monopolies the two companies hold over apps. Apple and Google stressed their work on user privacy and security and denied claims of anti-competitive practices. close
