House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) held a briefing on the legislative agenda. He criticized Democratic support for District of Columbia statehood, expanding the Supreme Court, and handling of the U.S. southern border. He also responded to former President George W. Bush’s comments about the Republican Party in which he said the party was “ isolationist, protectionist and, to a certain extent, nativist.” Leader McCarthy said the former president’s description was different from reality, citing gains in Republican women in Congress and minority voters. close
