Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation Zalmay Khalilzad, former U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, testified before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee on U.S. policy in Afghanistan. He answered questions on the Biden administration’s decision to pull U.S. troops from Afghanistan. The ambassador said that despite the reduced military presence in the country, the U.S. would continue diplomatic efforts to maintain peace with the Taliban in the country, as well as to uphold human rights for women, girls, and other minority groups in the region. close
