The House passed a bill to provide $1.9 billion in additional funding to improve U.S. Capitol security in response to the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. It creates a quick-reaction security force and hardens existing security measures, and also provides funds for the prosecution of January 6 rioters. Three Democratic Representatives, Cori Bush (MO), Ilhan Omar (MN), and Ayanna Pressley (MA), voted against the measure along with all Republicans. Three other Democrats, Rashida Tlaib (MI), Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez, and Jamall Bowman, voted “present.” The final vote was 213-212. close
