Senator Susan Collins (R-ME) spoke with reporters following a meeting with Sandra Garza, the girlfriend of fallen Capitol Police officer Brian Sicknick, as the Senate prepared to vote on a House-passed measure that would create a bipartisan commission to investigate the January 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol. Officer Sicknick suffered two strokes and died of natural causes a day after he confronted rioters at the insurrection. Two police officers who protected members of Congress during the attack also met with Senator Collins. Ms. Garza and the two police officers also answered a few questions from the press. close
