In France, freedom of speech is guaranteed under their Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen, but with exceptions - in particular, hate speech. In this program, a panel of journalists and law professors compared the definitions of free speech in France and the United States, and explored whether France’s model would work here. The National Constitution Center provided the video and co-hosted this event with the Cultural Services of the French Embassy. close
