Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell held a news conference to discuss monetary policy actions and the economy. He announced that interest rates would be held near zero, but increases could come as early as 2023. In addition, Chair Powell told reporters that the central bank had raised its inflation projections for 2021. When asked about the coronavirus pandemic, he said that “it would be premature to declare victory.” close
