Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison (D) and Neal Katyal, former acting solicitor general during the Obama administration, took part in an Aspen Institute conversation on the trial of former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin for the murder of George Floyd, a Black man who died while in police custody. As they shared their thoughts on the trial and the sentencing of Derek Chauvin, Attorney General Ellison said that “one of the things that we must resolve to do in our country is to prosecute crime, whether or not a person is wearing a badge or not.” The discussion was part of Aspen Institute’s 2021 Ideas Festival. close
