She was joined by Mr. Thompson and many of the other Democratic lawmakers who would serve on the panel. The speaker also announced that Republican Representative Liz Cheney (WY) would sit on the select committee. Representative Cheney, who did not attend the news conference, was ousted from Republican leadership ranks for public criticism of former President Trump’s role on January 6. The other Democratic members of the select panel include Administration Committee Chair Zoe Lofgren (CA), Intelligence Chair Adam Schiff (CA), and Representatives Pete Aguilar (CA), Stephanie Murphy (FL), Jamie Raskin (MD), and Elaine Luria (VA).
