Dr. Anthony Fauci also testified about the National Institutes of Health funding research in Wuhan and the origins of the coronavirus. Officials also discussed the need to wear masks, tracking COVID outbreaks, booster shots, the strategic national stockpile, and filtering speech on Facebook. During his questioning of Dr. Fauci, Senator Paul (R-KY) reminded him that it is a crime to lie to Congress and asked if he would like to retract his May 11 testimony in which he said that the NIH did not fund gain-of-function research at the Wuhan lab. Dr. Fauci said he did not and does not lie to Congress and therefore has nothing to retract. He said the senator did not know what he was talking about, adding, “You are implying what we did was responsible for the deaths of individuals. I totally resent that and if anyone is lying here Senator, it is you.”
