The Texas state House of Representatives met in special session to consider a bill, H.R. 1, that makes changes to election laws. Representative Andrew Murr (R), who wrote the legislation, responded to questions from lawmakers about various aspects of the bill, including the reversal of changes made in 2020 that allowed 24-hour and drive-through voting and the mailing-in of absentee ballot applications, increases for voter fraud penalties, and a reduction in voting hours. The measure later passed the House 80-41. close
