NASA officials and other experts testified at the House Space and Aeronautics Subcommitteeon hearing on the future of low earth orbit space flight. With the International Space Station (ISS) nearing the end of its operational life, the witnesses discussed the need for privately operated orbital outposts. NASA’s ISS director, addressing concerns over a gap in U.S. presence in low Earth orbit, said the agency “is committed to an orderly transition from ISS operations in low Earth orbit to U.S. commercially provided destinations.” close
