The Senate voted to extend the debt limit through December 3, 2021. The Treasury Department had indicated that the nation would reach its borrowing limit in 11 days without congressional action. Members also voted to proceed with Catherine Lhamon’s nomination for assistant secretary of education for civil rights, and voted in favor of limiting debate on Gustavo Gelpi’s judicial nomination to the U.S. First Circuit Court of Appeals. close
