Consumer advocacy experts testified at a Senate Commerce Subcommittee hearing on product safety during the holiday season. Much of the questioning focused on button batteries and the choking hazard they present with small children. The witnesses also answered questions on counterfeit items and product recalls. One of the witnesses included the mother of a toddler who died in 2020 after swallowing a small battery from a remote control device. close
